Khmer Art Overseas:
Art collector Avery Brundage donated nearly 8,000 outstanding Asian artworks to the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, USA including the husband and wife sculptures, Shiva and Parvati, from the 11th century Khmer Empire. The museum has produced three videos providing a detailed look at both sculptures – one is an hour long, the second is about 30 minutes, and a much shorter 3 minutes. Certainly questions are currently being asked about the provenance of this coupling, with Douglas Latchford believed to have owned the pair at one time, though it was his favourite London art dealers, Spink and Son who sold the sculptures to Avery Brundage in 1966. Enjoy this deep dive into the history of the god and goddess, Shiva and Parvati.https://www.facebook.com/andy.brouwer.71
