The Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum is a museum of ethnography in Cologne,

Khmer Art Overseas: The Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum is a museum of ethnography in Cologne, Germany, which reopened its doors in 2010. The museum arose from a collection of over 3,500 items belonging to ethnographer Wilhelm Joest, and now has 7,000 objects in its Asian collection alone. Its Khmer holdings of 74 pieces include stone sculptures/fragments and ceramics from the Wilhelm Siegel Collection (57 pieces) and a few bronze statues, stone rubbings and textiles. As I’ve mentioned in two recent posts, the museum is currently in the process of returning a Prasat Bakong Vishnu head to Cambodia, after their own due diligence revealed it was illegally exported, as well as a female deity statue that has been confirmed as fake. Unfortunately their collection is not online, so the artifacts shown here are just a small % of their Khmer artworks.
