Update - Banteay Meanchey Provincial Museum in Sisophon:

Update - Banteay Meanchey Provincial Museum in Sisophon: The feedback from my post about the provincial museum of Banteay Meanchey in Sisophon (in Northwest Cambodia) was so well received that I wanted to encourage anyone visiting Sisophon to pay a visit to the museum, which is open every day from Monday to Friday and has free entry for everyone. They can get up to 400 visitors per month and have over 2,100 objects in their collection. That includes nearly 450 stone items and over 1,100 ceramics, such as pots and bowls, as well as a series of skeletal remains, iron and bronze artifacts from Iron Age burial sites at Phum Sophy, Phum Snay and Kok Treas. The latter is near Banteay Chhmar, the province’s major temple complex, north of Sisophon, and the museum has a few stone artifacts from the temple itself. The museum works closely with local primary and secondary schools to give the younger generation an insight into Cambodia’s past with their Heritage for Kids education programme, which is a great way to encourage a thirst for knowledge of their own history. There are around 25 provincial and other museums spread around the kingdom, each with their own distinct collection, so I urge you to find out where your nearest museum is located and pay them a visit. Send me a message with details of your nearest museum, so I can feature them too. Each museum deserves a spotlight on their activities.https://www.facebook.com/andy.brouwer.71
